Ripollès, a land known for its important natural heritage, is also one of the largest producers of forging and iron in the country. Precisely in this so-called “steel cradle” is located Comforsa, who for more than four centuries have been promoting this link between forging, engineering, and the territory.
Comforsa is one of the largest exporters in the territory. Among its specialties are the manufacture of hubs and spiders for truck axles and trailer axles, the production of parts with meshes and segments for machinery used in construction activities on the ground, sleeves, rocker arms and counterweights for passenger cars, mechanization of large crankshafts for engines, as well as other technologically advanced forging solutions for other sectors such as aeronautics and accessories for field work, among others.
Comforsa's high production volume, in turn, results in a large amount of scrap and iron shavings that are subsequently recycled. This material is transported in trucks with a capacity of up to 20 tons and sold to third parties, of course, by weight. This is where the Giropes project comes in.
In order to efficiently weigh Comforsa's iron scraps, a project was needed that integrated both the civil works and the construction of space and installation of an integral weighing solution: a turnkey engineering work.
Thus, the engineers of Giropes' technical department were in charge of designing the civil works for the installation of the 16x3 meter raised weighbridge BPGSM that will weigh the incoming and outgoing trucks, with the objective of accurately determining the quantities sold for recycling.
To make the whole process more efficient, Comforsa is committed to the automation of weighing processes. For this reason, the installation of the Giropes truck scale has an autonomous station with touch screen. This is the GST4 self-service terminal, which converts the weighbridges into automated weighing systems.
The GST4 terminal includes as standard a 10.1” touch screen, an EMBEDDED system with integrated ventilation and protective visor, and the GESTRUCKPRO software for efficient management and control of production data and shrinkage sales, as well as the generation of statistics on the evolution of this production, since we are talking about an average of 10 trucks of up to 20 tons per day, which would result in the weighing of up to 200 tons per day, about 48,600 tons per year.
The weighbridge installation will also be equipped with the following accessories to improve control and efficiency in weighing operations: ANPR license plate detection cameras, which automatically identify the accessing vehicles; a positioning kit, which ensures the correct location of the vehicles; a CCTV camera that captures images of the transported material for verification; and a traffic light that regulates access and exit, guaranteeing the safety of the process.
Giropes, weighing solutions, has the professional and technological team to carry out integral projects that include from the design of the installation to obtaining quality data on its performance, including the automation of truck scales. Always offering the necessary technical support in complex projects.
Solutions such as the one provided to Comforsa are challenging and exciting missions that we wish to continue implementing for our customers, demonstrating Giropes' commitment to cutting-edge technology and service quality.
Automation with GST4 and Gestruck
BPGSM
It is a weighbridge with a modular structure and a smooth plate. Its sturdiness and modular structure facilitates its transport and installation.
GST4
Touch screen weighing terminal that allows complete control over any weighing installation without the need for a scale operator. Ideal for truck scales.
GesTruck
GESTRUCK 2 software offers a complete control of the weighing operations of vehicles, with an easy to understand interface, and which facilitates, above all, the collection of the desired information with the maximum accuracy and quickness possible.
